Neil Strauss EmergencyEmergency by Neil Strauss is available today in the US.

The price for the book went down and it is now only $10.19 at Amazon.

I received my review copy last Thursday and it is a sharp looking book. Whoever designs Neil’s books deserves a cookie.

So far I’ve read the first 50 pages and it appears to follow the same formula as The Game just using “survival” as a theme instead of “pickup”.

The book starts out with Neil realizing he is a total pussy who was raised with a silver spoon in his mouth…

As Y2K, 9/11 and other events arise he gets more paranoid and decides he needs to learn some survival skills in case the Apocalypse comes.

Just as he meets different PUA’s in The Game; he meets different cults, survivalists and wackos and documents the more interesting parts of the interactions in this book.

And just as he becomes mPUA extraordinaire in The Game; I can only imagine he becomes Rambo by the climax of this book. I predict that at the end he’ll realize that he has become overly paranoid and he’ll shed the camouflage, grab his old Gucci suit from the back of his walk in closet and take a limo to Madeo to meet up with Dave Navarro for some din-din and Cristal… but he’ll still retain his learned survival skills in the back of his mind!

If you like The Game, you’ll probably like Emergency. It follows the patented Neil Strauss nonfiction formula. I like survival shows like Man vs. Wild and Survivorman but I still have to admit this topic isn’t nearly as interesting to me as “pickup”…

I write a pickup blog… so go figure!

I predict in his next book Neil will learn how to become a MMA fighter …or maybe a WWE wrestler!

Yes I thought the same thing… After reading through this I have just begun to see Neil Strauss as a bigger phony then I had previously.

What’s strange is that this entire book supposedly takes place the entire time he was posting on message boards and stuff for seduction.

It would probably be a much better read if you don’t know who strauss is… just as the game was much better for me before i actually saw interviews with Neil…

The Game was just a story of rags to riches with women… I personally do not think he was in rags before like he tried to portray and I don’t think he is getting the riches now solely based on his mad pickup skills.

I imagine he has someone who scouts topics for him to find what would be marketable to write about. He then uses his credentials to get interviews and meetings with some of the big players in the field. He writes a formulaic book about it and publishes it.

Each one follows the “E! True Hollywood Story” formula… A nobody rises to fame and after reaching the top falls but later becomes content with his journey and claims it made him a “better person”.. I have never read his books about Jenna Jameson or Motley Crue but I imagine they are the same.

My problem with The Game was that he came into the seduction community as a reporter and wrote about all these PUAs and left as the “Authority” of the seduction community. Fuck that! He saw a marketable niche and exploited it, that’s all. He whored it out on The View and everyone in the community clapped their hands and sang his praise. There was still milk in the cow so he came out with Rules of the Game and then he left when the cow was dry for him and it was time for him to move on.

I was one of the first to be critical of him a year and half ago. Since then I’ve learned to accept him for what he is. He was just an author looking for a subject that will sell books and that he could apply his formula to.

Similarly, I’m just an author who is also trying to sell books about the seduction community… and Neil Strauss. In fact 9 out of 10 bloggers and gurus I see are doing the same. I guess I shouldn’t cast stones!
