Seduction Community’s post about Neil Strauss, StyleLife Academy and Rules of the Game is a great blog post. I have to give Nirvanos credit for having the balls to go where most bloggers won’t.
I never liked the idea of a mainstream author coming into the seduction community with the intentions of writing a book about it. I did not like him going on The View to promote the book. I did not like him talking shit about some of the forefathers of the community in the book. I did not like the fairy tale ending to the book which is quite ironic since Lisa ended up dumping him anyway. I do not like the fact that Lisa is coming out with her own seduction program for women and I think that Neil is probably behind it. I do not like how he is taking credit for many aspects of the community that existed before he came into it.
Nirvano’s post goes into detail on how Neil is recycling the same material and selling it over and over. It tells of some of the questionable methods and flaws of the Neil’s StyleLife Academy program. I personally get a laugh going to the StyleLife store and seeing a $36.99 “Pebble Shirt with Built-In Disqualifier” and $49.99 “THE TIE” for sale. Is StyleLife supposed to be the next Gucci?
I think Neil is an accomplished writer. He did a good job of digesting the seduction community and regurgitating it for the masses. Guys who were interested in the community felt more comfortable reading an autobiographical New York Time’s bestseller than a greasy “get laid” book. He brought in a huge influx of members into the community and to those new members he was the leader. As a businessman I have to tip my hat to him (and as a businessman, if you still choose to buy Rules of the Game you can buy it here).
But as a member of the community I think he has made his money and that it is time for him to leave and ghostwrite his next book about some quasi-celebrity. But he keeps popping up and milking the community and collecting paycheck after paycheck from it.
I know that I am not going to make any contributions to his next big check and I hope you do not either.
PS: Does anyone else find the UK cover to Rules of the Game to be hilariously cheesy? Is he supposed to be the second coming of Scarface?
